1/11-13 weekly update.

Once again we have an event packed weekend. First starting on Friday we will offer our first official Friday program. This year we are offering something a bit different. On Friday's from now on we will add a morning session of training for our Comp team only. The morning session will meet at the den in Mansfield base area at 8:30am. We will ride till 11:30 and meet up with the normal Friday program at 12:30. Our normal Friday program will begin to gather in the den at the base by 12:15 and make its way to the back deck of the base lodge for a warm up by 12:30ish. All normal Friday program riders will ride till 2:45. Comp team riders who have arranged for their own transportation will ride till 3:30 ending the day back at the den.

Saturday we will have our third rail jam of the season. This week we will be at the newest addition to USASA NVT Jay Peak. We will be taking our MMSC snowboard van to the event, space is available for any rider needing transportation. We just ask for a $10 donation for gas. The Van will leave at 7:45am from MMWA.
There will also be a special additional rail jam that day for riders 9 and under the little rascals rail jam before the USASA main event. All of our little rascals should be at this event. This will be the best possible chance to introduce all of our youngest riders to the competition world.

On Saturday January 12th, 2013 at Jay Peak Resort, snowboarders ages 9 and under will have the chance to compete in this premier rail jam event presented by The USASA Northern Vermont Series and Burton Experience Snowboarding. The goal will be to foster the spirit of snowboarding within young riders by letting them ride with boarders of a similar age and skill level. All Snowboarders under the age of 9 are welcome!
USASA Northern Vermont Series Director Paige Manning: “This is the first season that the USASA will host this type of event at the local level.  Burton Experience and USASA wanted this early age group to be able to have an event they could call their own. The rail jam will allow riders, 9 and under, to session the rail garden in open jam format and prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Trick and Best Style. The event will end with a Bib Draw Raffle for some great prizes, and each participant will head home with a goodie bag.”
Burton Snowboards VP of Global Resorts Jeff Boliba:  “This event is a great way to introduce kids to snowboard competition in a fun and inviting way. It has been rewarding helping get Lil Rascals started”
The Lil' Rascals Rail Jam will take place at Jay Peak Resort on Saturday January 12th in front of the Stateside Lodge. An event fee of $15 will be charged. Registration will be onsite from 8:30-9am.  Jay Peak Resort will also be offering Rascal Coaching by their certified snowboard instructors for an additional $15 from 9-9:45pm during warm up, and the event start is scheduled for 10am. This is a USASA Sanctioned event, all competitors must be members. We offer a one time free trial membership to those who have never been in the USASA.
If you are a USASA competitor under 9, you are welcome to join the Lil' Rascals Jam AND ride in the big event!
