Thanks for a fun filled 3 years.

Dear Friends, Family and MMSC members,

Over the past three years, MMSC has welcomed me to the clubhouse and allowed me to work with amazing young snowboarders. It has been an absolute pleasure and an honor to work with the incredible MMSC snowboarding community. As a team, we have had many great times, excellent results, and learned powerful lessons along the way – all while enjoying the challenge of our dynamic East Coast mountains and winters. I have come to love this northern Vermont community as family.

I eat, live, and breathe snowboarding. It has been an influential part of my life for many years. Sharing my passion for snowboarding with kids has been my mission. Supporting youth in developing their own unique skills and talents while having fun riding and competing, has been unbelievably rewarding. This mission will always be a part of who I am and why I do what I do.

At this time, I would like to inform you that I am resigning from my position as Head Coach of Mount Mansfield Snowboard Club, effective today.

I thank you all, for the support I have received over the past few years. I also want to thank Jamal Reid and Nick Citro for all of their hard work, dedication, and sacrifices made to contribute and support the MMSC team. They are the best coaches any program could ask for.

I will no longer be using Scott@teammmsc.org. I can now be reached at:
scott-adam@hotmail.com – Please stay in touch.

It is with fear and excitement of the unknown that I say farewell and best wishes to you all.

Sincerely,
Scott Adam

2012/2013 Final weekend update.

We have reached the final weekend of training for the 2012/2013 season.  This weekend will be a fun filled weekend with lots of opportunity for everyone to get some amazing turns in. With all of the snow we have had this week the conditions are going to be amazing.

This Friday we will offer a full day of training at the air bag set up at Sugarbush. Everyone will meet at 9am @ lincoln peek in the Main Lodge by guest services. We will be spending most of the day at the airbag, but will take some time to get in the park as well.  There is discounted jump tickets available through the US Airbag site. For more info check here. A Sugarbush lift ticket is required. Please email me if you will be needing a ticket for the day. (I am still working on setting up discounted tickets for all. Fingers crossed.)

Also on Friday for those staying at Stowe we will offer the last of our Friday program. Everyone will meet in the Den at Mansfield base at 12:30 and ride till 3:30. All MMSC riders are welcome to join.

This Saturday we will be meeting at the regularly scheduled time at the club. 8am-3pm.

We will be setting up a table through out the day in order to sell our remaining MMSC hoodies, stickers and hats in order to raise funds to help out with the nationals expenses. Any volunteer help would be appreciated.

On Sunday most of our coaching staff will start the drive to Colorado in the Twin State Ford Express. Thanks to Dan Keene and Twin State ford we will once again make the trek across the US to Colorado. (Keep an eye out for updates on the facebook page.) There will training offered at MMSC. We will have one coach available. Everyone will be at the club at 8am and ride till 3pm.

2013 Nationals Info

We are fast approaching the end of our MMSC season. Last weekend was the last of our NVT events and our riders are now looking ahead to USASA nationals in Copper. National results are in all across the country and if you go to the EVENTS tab on the USASA.org page and click the 2013 nationals link you will see the first thing on the right hand list is NATIONALS INVITES. FIll in your drop downs and see where you are. The invite itself will be sent to the email that you used to register for USASA. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to the deadlines, if you miss them, you are automatically out. The current deadline to accept your spot is 3/17. If you anticipate a National Ranking (NR) Invite, the best way to be sure is to go to the snowboard Nationals page under the events tab as well, scroll to Comp Groups and look at how many they are taking in your particular discipline. If you are ranked high enough to fall within that number you can anticipate that NR invite coming. All 1st in there series will be removed from the NR list as they receive their series invite. (ex: They are taking 50 total and you are nationally ranked 30th...it looks darn good! 32 series in the country...do the math : )...)THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY in this so please check often and be pro-active!! If you are not going decline immediately so that the invite can go to the next in line ASAP.

If you are going to nationals and you have not already, please get your deposit in to me asap. I have booked most of our nationals reservations and should have a fixed price to you all by the end of the weekend. We are once again taking deposits for the trip on last years rate of $700 per kid. Our 2013 cost may be slightly higher or lower depending on the reservations we can find and the number of riders going. We will look for 50% of the projected total which equals $350 from all riders going to Nationals asap. The cost covers, coaches travel fee's, coaches transportation, coaches lodging, tuning supplies, daily coaches per-diem, and pay-rates. I will be collecting all of the funds and making the reservations with my own account so please make any checks out to Scott Adam. Once we have booked our reservations and the rest of the costs are added we will announce a final price, the balance will be due 10 days before the start of Nationals. We will also have the pre-national training costs set and announced by Sunday.

In order to help keep the costs of nationals down we are selling our MMSC hoodies and hats to raise funds to offset the cost of nationals. If any one is available I am looking for a volunteer to set up a table at MMSC this weekend and sell our hoodies and hats for us. Please email if you are available to help. All of us know how expensive nationals can be for everyone, so in order for us to keep our coaching costs down as low as we can, we need to offset the cost of Nationals with these extra funds. Please help us sell our hoodies and in return help all of those going to nationals. We have hoodies available for men and woman in sizes S,M,and L. All hoodies will cost $75 and hats cost $20 please make any checks out to Scott Adam.

2nd Sat, Jan 5 at Stoweflake Resort, Mountain Road, Stowe - 6:00 - 8:30 pm - I hope that all of you can make it out to show your support for our snowboard program at the "Celebrate Winter" with MMSC at the Club's only in-season fundraiser.  Based on feed back received over the past couple of years, the event is taking a break from the Hall of Fame dinner format.  After all of the holiday events, it was thought that the membership would enjoy time to socialize, partake in some good food and not have to listen to lengthy speeches. A fresh start to the New Year!  Silent and live auctions will run throughout the event.  A special celebrity guest auctioneer will oversee the live auction. To further change things up, there are lots of new and different auction items up for bid.  The lower-priced ticket is not only to encourage you to join us but to bid and buy.  While the ticket price covers our event expenses, the auction is where meaningful funds are raised to support MMSC.  We hope you will join us and help us meet that goal.
Also, the Stoweflake is offering a 10% discount off their regular room rate for people attending "Celebrate Winter." If you opt to stay, be sure to mention the discount. Tickets to "Celebrate Winter" can be purchase on-line at www.teammmsc.org using a credit card or PayPal.

In order to race all riders must have a USASA membership which can be purchased  here. https://www.usasa.org/members/membership/member-login.htmlTo qualify for USASA nationals riders must have 3 results in the event that they would like to qualify in. There are only 3 scheduled GS's in NVT so Sunday is 2 shots at getting the results needed. Additional info can be found here. http://www.usasa.org/regions/new-england-region/northernvermont.html
There will be two coaches at this race all riders will meet the coaches at registration and head out to the hill to inspect the course together. Please send me an email to confirm your plans for Sunday.

7th Fri,Sat,and Sun. Sugarloaf, Me. USASA Boarder X. We will once again bring a crew of MMSC riders to Maine for a BX camp. This will be our best shot to give our riders a chance to ride a national level course before we get to Copper. It is also a great prep for our in series events at Smuggs. This course is built by the 2x olympic gold medalist Seth Westcott and year after year is the best built course on the east coast. We will leave for this camp on Thursday night the 17th and return on Sunday the 20th. We will once again reserve the house we stayed in last season. We will be able to sleep up to 10 people. We will need to bring sleeping bags and pillows. Please contact me asap to confirm a spot on this trip. Price will be determined when we have a better idea of the numbers. I think last year the cost was somewhere around $250-$300 for lodging, gas and coaches expenses. As of now the plan is to leave in the evening on Thursday the 17th. We will train BX Friday the 18th, compete in the USASA BX Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th and return on Sunday after the event.

In order for me to correctly gage the costs for lodging and transportation please contact me with the following info if your rider is planning on attending this event.

Will you be needing transportation?

Will a parent be traveling with the rider?

Do you need lodging or will you be getting your own?

If you will be driving to the event, do you have room in your vehicle to help transport riders?

Also contact me if your schedule will be different then the planned schedule above.

For riders who will need transportation and lodging, Thursday and Sunday ( travel days ), we will need to make sure each rider has money for food while on the road. We will build in the coast of food for Friday and Saturday Breakfast and Dinner and Sunday breakfast into the cost of the lodging. Coaches and volunteer parents will cook breakfast and dinner. All riders should be sent with money for lunch for the three days on snow at Sugarloaf.

The address for the house is : 1026 Huston Brook Rd , Carrabassett Valley,me. 04947. The phone no. is (207)-235-2008. The cell phone reception in the valley is very poor , so please feel free to use the land line.
