MMSC Mt. Hood Summer Camp

Training on snow in the offseason is a key piece of the snowboard progression. While athletes in other programs dream of snow, MMSC gives its athletes the opportunity for on-snow training in off-season camps in Mt. This summer MMSC will hold a Training Camp at Mt. Hood in Oregon. The camp is structured to support continued progression and keep the athlete mentally focused while having a ton of fun in a summer setting. Located in the Northern Oregon, Mt. Hood offers some of the best summer facilities in the Northern America. Timberline resort on Mt. Hood has amazing parks, pipes multiple jump lines for all abilities, air bags and rail lines. Traveling to Mt. Hood with the experienced top notch MMSC coaches to train in HP, Slope and have fun in the sun for 8 days is an invaluable opportunity. Summer Training Camp combined with our Fall Training Camp is the best way to prepare an athlete for a successful competition season. This camp is open first to all current MMSC athletes after until March 25th at which point we will fill the spots for this camp with new MMSC recruits and GMFC members. On Saturday January 12th, 2013 at Jay Peak Resort, snowboarders ages 9 and under will have the chance to compete in this premier rail jam event presented by The USASA Northern Vermont Series and Burton Experience Snowboarding. The goal will be to foster the spirit of snowboarding within young riders by letting them ride with boarders of a similar age and skill level. All Snowboarders under the age of 9 are welcome!
USASA Northern Vermont Series Director Paige Manning: “This is the first season that the USASA will host this type of event at the local level.  Burton Experience and USASA wanted this early age group to be able to have an event they could call their own. The rail jam will allow riders, 9 and under, to session the rail garden in open jam format and prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Trick and Best Style. The event will end with a Bib Draw Raffle for some great prizes, and each participant will head home with a goodie bag.”
Burton Snowboards VP of Global Resorts Jeff Boliba:  “This event is a great way to introduce kids to snowboard competition in a fun and inviting way. It has been rewarding helping get Lil Rascals started”
The Lil' Rascals Rail Jam will take place at Jay Peak Resort on Saturday January 12th in front of the Stateside Lodge. An event fee of $15 will be charged. 2nd Sat, Jan 5 at Stoweflake Resort, Mountain Road, Stowe - 6:00 - 8:30 pm - I hope that all of you can make it out to show your support for our snowboard program at the "Celebrate Winter" with MMSC at the Club's only in-season fundraiser.  Based on feed back received over the past couple of years, the event is taking a break from the Hall of Fame dinner format.  After all of the holiday events, it was thought that the membership would enjoy time to socialize, partake in some good food and not have to listen to lengthy speeches. A fresh start to the New Year!  Silent and live auctions will run throughout the event.  A special celebrity guest auctioneer will oversee the live auction. To further change things up, there are lots of new and different auction items up for bid.  The lower-priced ticket is not only to encourage you to join us but to bid and buy.  While the ticket price covers our event expenses, the auction is where meaningful funds are raised to support MMSC.  We hope you will join us and help us meet that goal.
Also, the Stoweflake is offering a 10% discount off their regular room rate for people attending "Celebrate Winter." If you opt to stay, be sure to mention the discount. Tickets to "Celebrate Winter" can be purchase on-line at www.teammmsc.org using a credit card or PayPal.

7th Fri,Sat,and Sun. Sugarloaf, Me. USASA Boarder X. We will once again bring a crew of MMSC riders to Maine for a BX camp. This will be our best shot to give our riders a chance to ride a national level course before we get to Copper. It is also a great prep for our in series events at Smuggs. This course is built by the 2x olympic gold medalist Seth Westcott and year after year is the best built course on the east coast. We will leave for this camp on Thursday night the 17th and return on Sunday the 20th. We will once again reserve the house we stayed in last season. We will be able to sleep up to 10 people. We will need to bring sleeping bags and pillows. Please contact me asap to confirm a spot on this trip. Price will be determined when we have a better idea of the numbers. I think last year the cost was somewhere around $250-$300 for lodging, gas and coaches expenses. As of now the plan is to leave in the evening on Thursday the 17th. We will train BX Friday the 18th, compete in the USASA BX Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th and return on Sunday after the event.

In order for me to correctly gage the costs for lodging and transportation please contact me with the following info if your rider is planning on attending this event.

Will you be needing transportation?

Will a parent be traveling with the rider?

Do you need lodging or will you be getting your own?

If you will be driving to the event, do you have room in your vehicle to help transport riders?

Also contact me if your schedule will be different then the planned schedule above.

For riders who will need transportation and lodging, Thursday and Sunday ( travel days ), we will need to make sure each rider has money for food while on the road. We will build in the coast of food for Friday and Saturday Breakfast and Dinner and Sunday breakfast into the cost of the lodging. Coaches and volunteer parents will cook breakfast and dinner. All riders should be sent with money for lunch for the three days on snow at Sugarloaf.

The address for the house is : 1026 Huston Brook Rd , Carrabassett Valley,me. 04947. The phone no. is (207)-235-2008. The cell phone reception in the valley is very poor , so please feel free to use the land line.
